Resident Spotlight: Thomas Trapp
Arrington Manor resident Thomas Trapp is a volunteer for the Senior Companion Program. Volunteers provide services such as companionship; light housekeeping, light laundry, and light meal preparation. Oftentimes the volunteers help participants with tasks they normally would not be able to do themselves.
Thomas Trapp volunteers his assistance to William Carter a few days a week and he loves it! When asked why he gives so much of his time to Mr. Carter- Mr. Trapp has a ready answer: "I like that I can make a difference in someone else's life."
Columbia Housing CEO Yvonda A. Bean said, "I am extremely proud of Mr. Trapp and all of our resident volunteers. They embody the spirit of being a good neighbor. Our residents love them and we appreciate them tremendously."

Valentine's Day with Columbia Housing Residents
Continuum of Care Soiree
Our Continuum of Care Program for our formerly homeless residents hosted a Valentine's Soiree that was so much fun! The SMILES say it all!
We ate together and fellowshipped; played bingo and had a raffle - and for the lucky residents who won- they got first pick from a host of cleaning supplies. Everyone especially enjoyed the JEOPARDY GAME with a housekeeping theme. These residents are really competitive!
Congratulations to Program Director Jamie Drew and her team for topping off the event with a cleaning professional who gave us some best practice tips for keeping a fresh and tidy home.

Hammond Village Valentine's Party
Children at the Hammond Village Valentine's Day party enjoyed crafts, games, and snacks courtesy of community volunteers. Participants really got into the spirit of the holiday.

Growing Up GEN Z Group Celebrates in Style
The weekly meeting of the "Growing Up GEN Z" group included a Valentine's Day celebration before their session began on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.
Prisma Health representatives were on hand to lead a discussion on setting healthy boundaries in relationships.
Gen Z Ambassador, DeAndre Scott, posed for a selfie in front of the Valentin's Day backdrop while enjoying the pre-talk hotdogs and cupcakes.

Enrichment Opportunities for CH Residents
CH residents can participate in a variety of enrichment activities throughout the year through the Resident & Family Services Department. One of those seminars, "Who Am I", will take place on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, form 10:00 am until 1:00 pm at the CH Resident & Family Service Center located at 2133 Walker Solomon Way, Columbia, SC 29203. The "Who I Am" seminar will take participants on a journey of self-discovery and personal empowerment.

Housers For Health Spring Fitness Challenge Begins
CH Staff kicked off a 90-day wellness challenge on February 15, 2023 in partnership with Prisma Health.
Recovering the importance of getting and staying healthy CEO Yvonda A. Bean said, "I want my team to always be and feel their best. I hope this challenge encourages them to make positive changes and healthier choices about diet and exercise. The better we take care of ourselves, the better equipped we are to take care of others."
Prisma Health sent representatives to record biometric data which will be used to track progress during the 90-day challenge. A series of Lunch & Learn workshops are planned to share information on a variety of wellness topics. Total steps will also be recorded during the challenge and a winner crowned on most steps walked overall.
Local fitness guru James Patrick stopped by the kick-off to get everyone fired up and moving and the team enjoyed the mini-class!
