CH Advocates

Columbia Housing recognizes the importance of advocacy because it focuses attention on important issues and gives a voice to those affected. Advocacy also influences those in power to provide leadership, act and invest resources.

August Advocacy is the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Official's (NAHRO's) annual campaign to reach Congress with advocacy messages about affordable housing and community development programs.

During the month of August, housing authorities across the U.S. joined with the National Association of Housing & Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) to advocate for affordable housing.

Urgent: Support $300 Billion in Proposed Housing Infrastructure Investments

New alert added on October 1: Negotiations are ongoing within the Democratic party over their strategy for passing two major pieces of infrastructure legislation. Only one bill includes housing provisions - the Build Back Better Act.

Democrats are at odds over the size and scope of the Build Back Better Act and housing is in imminent risk of being cut from the package. This may be a once in a generation opportunity to preserve Public Housing and make needed investments to the HOME Program.

We need you to speak up now to tell lawmakers to preserve the housing provisions in the Build Back Better Act and reconciliation.
