Resident Success Story: Dorothy Maxwell's Focus on Family & Community
Let's all congratulate 82-year-old Dorothy Maxwell on 50 years of neighborhood & community service in Latimer Manor Community!
Mrs. Maxwell and her husband moved into Latimer Manor in 1972 - just a few years after the complex was built. "We raised our children here. It has always been our home."
Columbia Housing has honored Dorothy Maxwell's efforts over the last 50 years. She and her family have received the coveted 'Family of the Year Award' and they've also received several beautification awards for the exterior and interior of her home.
Mrs. Maxwell also taught Sunday School at New Ebeneezer Baptist Church for 30 years; and volunteered regularly as a teacher's assistant at Hyatt Park Elementary.
"As I look back over my 50 years at Latimer Manor, I'm thankful for the opportunities to give back to my community."
"Congratulations Ms. Maxwell. A mother in the community. Even when I lived in Latimer Manor, she was one of the mothers looking out for everyone
