Resident Success Story: CHANGE is Happening
When Janell Daniels lost her sister to heart failure 8 months ago, it was the hardest thing she'd ever faced. "We were so close. We were just 1 year and 2 months apart," says Janell. Today, Janell, a mother of 10 (5 grown & 5 at home) credits Columbia Housing's CHANGE Program with helping her keep it together and create a path forward.
"The CHANGE Program has been like a sisterhood for me. It's a 'no judgment' zone. We talk about EVERYTHING. If I need counseling, our director Cynthia Boykin gives me a resource for that. Whatever we need, Ms. Boykin is there. She is amazing." In the meantime, Janell continues to provide a happy stable home for her family. "We are all thriving," says Janell. "Ms. Boykin and the CHANGE Program are a big part of why."
"It's stories like Ms. Daniels that we find extremely gratifying. Knowing, through the CHANGE Program, we're instilling hope and meeting the needs of our residents, is a demonstration of our commitment to putting #ResidnetsFirst," says Interim CEO Yvonda Bean.
The CHANGE Program works to foster compassion, excellence, dignity, integrity, and teamwork among its 25 participants. If you'd like to know more about the CHANGE Program, please email Cynthia Boykin.
