Columbia Housing Senior Facilities Get "Deep Cleaning"

Agency to use Nisus DSV.  The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has determined that Nisus DSV is effective against SARS-CoV, the cause of COVID-19.

Columbia, SC... Columbia Housing is committed to creating the safest environments possible for its most vulnerable and at-risk residents during the COVID-19 crisis. The agency has hired local contractor ProCore Pest Control to dispense a disinfectant at the Oak Reed, Marion Street, Rosewood Hills, and Arrington Manor senior facilities on Friday, March 27, 2020.

ProCore Pest Control uses the disinfectant Nisus DSV. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has determined that Nisus DSV is effective against SARS-CoV, the cause of COVID-19. Nisus DSV is a broad-spectrum disinfectant, sanitizer and virucide labeled to kill many viruses and bacteria.

"We are doing everything possible to minimize the risk of exposure to COVID-19 for our senior residents," says Interim Executive Director Ivory Mathews.  "We began communicating with our staff and families in late February regarding the potential threat and continue to remain vigilant with our information campaign and activities designed to reduce the spread of COVID-19."

Community rooms were closed on March 18, 2020 in all Columbia Housing communities per Center for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines regarding social-distancing.  Hand Sanitizer Stations were set up at the senior properties that same week.  A detailed list of the agency's COVID-19 activities can be found at COVID-19 Response at www.columbiahousingsc.org.

Columbia Housing currently provides affordable housing to 1,600+ families in its Public Housing Program and 4,000+ families in its Housing Choice Voucher Program.
